An approximate total number Livewire motorcycles, from origin through mid-year 2023, is 3198. This number is calculated based on the numbers in the table, and the following logic.

HD Customer Support provided the Livewire production numbers for 2020 and 2021.  This information includes numbers for the Harley Davidson branded,  Livewire (ELW) motorcycle and the initial 2021 Livewire One (LW1) production.  (These are not official production numbers, but are from phonecons with HD Customer Support.)

Livewire Group, Inc. does not report production numbers.  Livewire Group reports sales numbers in quarterly and annual financial reports.  Additionally, Livewire Group, Inc. continues to report carryover sales numbers of ELW motorcycles produced in 2020 and 2021, and for Livewire, LLC (LW`1) motorcycles which began production in 2021.  So, there is some overlap in Livewire sales reporting with production numbers from previous years.

An approximation of the total number of XA+XB Livewires produced through mid-year 2023 is based on:

• The total number of Livewire motorcycles produced in 2020 and 2021.                      (Although the 22 ELW motorcycles stated to be produced in 2021 may have been for "in-house" use, Harley did declare a 2021 ELW model-year so I have included these in production totals.)                     

              =  2291  + 238  + 22 = 2573

• Livewire Group, Inc. sales reporting for 2021 are not added, since these numbers are reflected in 2020 and 2021 production numbers.
• Plus 2022 year sales, less the number of 2020/2021 motorcycles sold in 2022          (This number will be refined when Livewire 4Q 2023 quarterly reporting reflects the actual number of ELW motorcycles sold in 4Q 2022)                                                                              =  597 - 75  = 522
• Plus 2023 year sales, minus the number of 2020/2021 motorcycles sold in 2023         (This number will be refined as quarterly reporting reflects the rest of the year's LW1 sales, less S2DM, and whether additional ELW motorcycles continued to be sold.)          =  140  -  0  = 140 

Therefore, the total number of ELW and LW1 motorcycles should be approximately

              =  2573 (2020 and 2021)  + 522 (2022)  +  140 (2023)  =  3235

An alternate view would be that there are:

               2291      Model-year 2020 ELW motorcycles with VIN XA

                   22     Model-year 2021 ELW motorcycles with VIN XA

                238      Model-year 2021 LW1 motorcycles with VIN XB

                544     Model-year 2022 LW1 motorcycles with VIN XB 

                140     Model-year 2023 LW1 motorcycles with VIN XB

              ------

              3235        Approximate Total  Number of ELW and LW1 motorcycles 

                                    (I'll refine this as additional 2023 sales numbers are released, 

                                      with detail on the number of 2023 motorcycles sold, and on

                                       the number of 2020/2021 motorcycles that may be double counted.

Note:  Harley-Davidson did declare a 2021 model year for the ELW in a December 30 2020 filing to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  The production numbers in the narrative do reflect all production, including the 2021 ELW motorcycles
